  • About BCN

Blackpool Community News - BCN The Interactive Version website was launched on July 1st 2008. It aims to be an informative, awareness raising website that champions the Third Sector in Blackpool and the town’s active citizens.  It will also aim to be a critical and constructive friend to its partners in the public and private sector.

BCN was produced primarily to make on online version of Blackpool SURF’s printed newsletter. It was also a response to local authority cuts in funding to Blackpool SURF which limited the amount of printed material that could be produced and circulated to the town’s third sector. The website has enabled the circulation of material, news, publications and other documents to a far wider audience than was previously possible.

The website has developed a ‘life of its own’ with groups, organisations and individuals promoting their news, views and activities through the site.  New government initiatives, publications and press releases can be quickly communicated to the local voluntary, community and faith sector through the site. A useful bank of documents and publications are readily available for download or viewing through our Scribed service. In short, BCN can bring you the news and information that matters to you!

The website has a regular and growing readership and has specific sister sites for ICT & Communication and 3rd Sector Jobs
