Are you creative with a camera or are you wonderful with words? Would you like the chance to win £100 worth of vouchers?
If you have answered “yes” to any of these questions, then Blackpool libraries want to hear from you!
As part of the National Year of Reading, the library service, Blackpool and the Fylde College and the BBC are working together to capture the beauty and uniqueness of living in Blackpool. Media students from the college are making a series of short films that reflect the cultural diversity of the town while photography students are hoping to capture this in photographs.
We are inviting the public of Blackpool to join in and are looking for entries, in words or photographs, which show the myriad experiences of living in this place.
Photographic entries must be 7in x 5in and can be of anything which reflects the beauty, the kitsch, the glamour, the unusual side of life in Blackpool.
Is writing your strength? Could you capture the flavour of living in Blackpool in five lines? You can use any format – poetry, prose or an imaginary news report – to do this.
All entries will be displayed at the Central Library, along with the work from the students, in February and there will be a special evening event to celebrate the project. (date to be confirmed)
Entries can be handed in at any of Blackpool’s libraries and the closing date for these is 31st January 2009.
